How to prevent LED strips from breaking - heat warningUpdated 5 months ago

Many persons are under the impression that LED strips do not let off any heat. While the heat emitted is a fraction of what traditional light sources emit, it is still enough to damage vital components on the strip if not dissipated. This in turn will greatly shorten the lifespan of your LED strip.

We always recommend you install your strips with an LED profile. Channels and profiles act as heatsinks, drawing damaging heat away from your strip, therefore extending its lifespan.

Any strip will benefit from a profile. However, high power strips must have one, as the higher power means they will not survive long at all without heat being drawn away. And never power on any strip while it is still coiled on its roll — this will kill the strip in seconds.

Please take a look at our selection of channels here, or get in touch with a sales rep for help selecting a channel suited to your project!
